年輕認真的男老師麥克斯總想把學生當成朋友，卻時常得忍受他們在課堂內外的叛逆胡鬧。束手無策之餘，他決定向自己從前的嚴師佛克求教，並把他請來就任的中學整頓秩序。年過七十的佛克秉持傳統嚴格的教學方式，初來乍到就以倒著說話的古怪行徑震攝全場。眼看著畢業季即將到來，教學風格迴異的兩位老師是否能帶領學生安然通過期末考試？

The Substitute is a film where democracy and authority, tradition and innovation are juxtaposed and where great emotions spring to life. It's the story about the young and ambitious Max and his old and strict teacher Folke who try - each in their own way - to get a ninth grade class in a Swedish suburb through their final exams.
